In the classic 1969 film “Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid”, the titular characters are being relentlessly pursued by a posse hell bent on their capture. At one point in the film, Butch (played by Paul Newman) turns to Sundance (played by Robert Redford) and utters those now immortal words: “Who are those guys”?

Even though ChefWorthy has been posting blogs about the world of online product reviews and enterprise peer review programs for quite some time now, some of you, like Butch and Sundance, may still be wondering “who are those guys”? Well, wonder no more.

What is ChefWorthy?

Our Community members can share their experiences and write reviews about foodservice equipment in categories such as Combi Ovens, Fryers, Blast Chillers, Deck Ovens, Reach-Ins, Conveyor Ovens, Warewashing equipment and Ranges. In the future, ChefWorthy will feature Beverage Equipment, Mixers, Steamers, Tilt Pans/Braziers, Grills, Broilers, Food Processors and more. ChefWorthy will also feature Point of Sale (POS) Systems, Reservation Systems, and other Kitchen Technologies.

Who is ChefWorthy?

  • ChefWorthy was started by two foodservice professionals, Randy Zweiban and Mathew Mandeltort. Randy and Mat realized there was need for a foodservice equipment equivalent of Yelp, Trip Advisor, or Angi in the foodservice industry to help chefs and foodservice professionals make better buying decisions by sharing their experiences with equipment with others.
  • Randy has 30+ plus years as an operator, chef, and consultant. He’s worked in Miami, Los Angeles, and Chicago. He was a partner with Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises for 10 years at Nacional 27 and Brasserie Jo, and opened Province, the first gold level LEED-certified full-service restaurant in Chicago, with an outpost in Phoenix Arizona. He has been involved in product ideation, menu, recipe and concept creation and operational systems.
  • Mathew started out as attorney (please don’t hold that against him) but quickly gave that up to follow his passion for food and cooking. A self-taught chef, Mathew has worked in kitchens for Marriott, Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, Inc., and Erickson Retirement Communities. He owned and operated HearthFare, an award-winning home meal replacement (HMR) and catering business in the suburbs of Chicago. Later in his career he was a consultant with Technomic, the leading foodservice industry consultancy in the country and a VP of Foodservice for the 3rd largest Convenience Distributor in the country.

What Are Our Values?

We Believe In:

  • Allowing ourselves to be guided by the principles of transparency, honesty, integrity, and community.
  • Making purchasing foodservice equipment and technology better through the voice of our community of foodservice professionals.

We Don’t Believe In:

  • Accepting advertising so as to avoid even the appearance of impropriety and neutrality. Manufacturers and Brands cannot buy their way the top of rankings.
  • Using algorithms to calculate rankings and reviews. What you see is what you get. Right from the horse’s (or foodservice professionals) in this case).
  • Lowering ratings because a review is “x” number of months old. Our users can decide for themselves if a review is not current enough to be helpful.

Now that you know who we are, we encourage you to visit www.ChefWorthy.pro and join the hundreds of foodservice professionals who have already signed up to be members of our community. We’re looking forward to you writing your first review. If you’re unsure where to begin, you can visit our “How To Write A Great Review” section to get started. Happy Reviewing!
