If you’re in the market for a Combi Oven, regardless of make or model, you should know what to expect before laying out a sizeable investment. The ChefWorthy Community has rated a number of brands and we’ve aggregated the results of their ratings & reviews for your benefit:

Key Learnings:

  • Nearly 9 out of 10 CW Reviewers would Recommend a Combi Oven to a colleague.
  • Overall Combi Ovens score well across the ChefWorthyPerformance Metrics (on a 5 point scale).
  • Combi Ovens score well (4.5) when it comes to Versatility. Given Combi’s can utilize up to 12 different cooking modes, it’s not surprising versatility is a strength.
  • Combi Oven Versatility comes with a price. Combi Ovens are not one button machines. Our reviewers indicated the operation of Combi Ovens can be a challenge for staff.
  • Maintenance can be a challenge (3.8 — the lowest score among the CW Performance Metrics). Our reviewers report that, similar to any equipment which makes extensive use of water (i.e. coffee brewers, ice machines etc.), scaling can be an issue. Also, OEM supplies and repairs can be expensive.

So if you’re looking to purchase a Combi Oven, make sure that you go beyond the brochures and sales collateral. They can be a wonderful addition to a kitchen due to their versatility. Even obviating the need to to get other single purpose pieces of equipment. But there’s no such thing as a free lunch. Go in with your eyes wide open.
